On July 19th, the Battlefords Scuba Community will celebrate International Women’s Dive Day with some diving at Atton’s Lake. Festivities will begin at 10 am and the first order of business will be a Dive against Debris (beach clean-up) done from shore. The second dive, for those who want to do more than one, will head in a different direction and will be a simple fun dive. This year our event has been endorsed by the Saskatchewan Underwater Council as the provincial event, so let’s make it a good one!
We will have small souvenirs for all the women divers who join us for the day.
The event will be run under the provincially approved guidelines for diving during the re-opening of the province after the pandemic. Should anything change in our recovery, the event will be cancelled and you will be advised. Basically, at this moment, we are still required to practice social distancing and outdoor groups are limited to 30 in number.
The day will wrap up with an old-fashioned Family Picnic, so please bring along your picnic fare and beverage, and we will provide the space. Lawn chairs are likely a good addition to the day’s accessories. Please watch for further information. Please let us know if you plan on joining us and we will get you directions and details as the date approaches.
There are no power boats allowed on Atton’s Lake on the weekends between June and September so we do not have to concern ourselves with the restrictions concerning boats.
Hope to see you there!
Completion dive dates are: July 25 & 26,2020 August 22 & 23, 2020

On Sunday, August 2 the Battlefords Scuba Community will be holding its Drive and Dive Event at Atton’s Lake Regional Park, a day dedicated to outdoor fun (in the sun we hope!). It combines a round of golf (and please don’t worry if you are not a golfer – this is about friendship and fun) and scuba diving and other aquatic pursuits along with a relaxing and refreshing lunch.
The festivities begin at 9:00 am with 9 holes of golf on the Atton’s Lake Golf Course. Power carts will be rented for all. The golf will be played under the guidelines set out by the province – maintain social distancing as much as possible, people using the same cart must be from the same household and tee-times will be separated by twenty minutes.
After the gold we will have lunch at the Golf Course Club House before setting of for the boat launch where we will set up for a couple of dives, or for the non-divers get the canoes, kayaks and/or paddleboards ready for some activity. There is no power boat traffic on the weekends on this lakes so we will be relatively uninterrupted at the boat launch. We will also dive under the provincial guidelines – maintaining social distancing as much as possible so long as the dive mask and the regulators are not in use. We should have time for a couple of leisurely dives.
If there is any change in the COVID19 situation we will advise everyone and if necessary will cancel the event for the welfare of all concerned.
The fees include the round of golf, the cart rental, and the lunch. Atton’s Lake is a Regional Park and as such there is an admission fee of $8 per day or $15 for the weekend. This admission fee is not included in the event fee. For those who may be interested, there is camping in the park for nominal fees; these fees would not be part of the event fee.
We welcome non-divers to the event, the peaceful surroundings are a great spot to relax. The lake is quiet and make a lovely spot to paddle on your favourite non-powered water craft. Please come join us at one of our favourite spots and meet the lovely Atton’s Lake.
